FAQs
We Are Here To Help
At Collaborative Chambers, we aim to provide help to people across Cambridge going through family problems in as friendly and helpful a way as possible.
We appreciate that you might not know a lot about mediation, which is why we have produced this FAQ guide to help you:
What Is Family Mediation?
This is a way of helping families to reach an agreement about the future following a separation or divorce.
Our Mediation Services
A neutral third party will be present as you discuss your circumstances with your partner or ex-partner, and it is becoming increasingly popular compared to going to court.
How Will I Be Kept Safe During Mediation?
Talking to your partner about what should happen after a separation or divorce can be extremely stressful.
We provide a safe place for your to discuss your options at your own pace and if there is an issue of safety, the sessions will not take place.
How Will The Mediation Process Be Fair?
Mediation will only go ahead if both of you want it to. Mediators are impartial and we do not take sides.
We can give you information about legal principles but we do not make a decision for you, and we help you come to an agreement which can then become legally binding.
How Much Does Mediation Cost?
We charge £165 each per session, but there are reduced fees of £100 per session for those on low income.
How Long Are The Sessions?
They usually last between an hour and 90 minutes.
Can My Solicitor Come With Me?
Mediation with both lawyers present is an option if you want it.
